Biography:
Frodo lived with Bilbo at Bag End for twelve years, and inherited some of his peculiarities. It was said that he would meet with Elves in the woods at times, for example, and Bilbo allowed him to read his diary of his journey to Erebor with the dwarves.
In 3001, Bilbo held the great 111st (eleventy-first) Birthday Party on 22 September (a birthday Frodo happened to share - he was "coming of age" at 33), and afterwards departed from the Shire, leaving Frodo to come into his inheritance, including (after much persuasion by Gandalf) The One Ring.
At the behest of Gandalf after learning of the Ring's evil nature and history, Frodo fled the Shire with his servant Samwise Gamgee, later meeting up with their two Hobbit friends Merry and Pippin, and eventually leaving the Shire and taking part in the War of the Ring. Frodo became the sole appointed RingBearer, and eventually made his way to the Cracks of Doom with Sam and Gollum, where the Ring was destroyed. It was believed by many, including Gandalf, Bilbo and Sam, that Frodo was "the best hobbit in the Shire." Certainly possessing imperfections, he was nonetheless able to bear a great itching force of temptation across a vast trek, focusing instead on the goal of the destruction of the Ring. Be that as it may he was still unable to ultimately destroy the Ring at the very Cracks of Doom, further demonstrating the Ring's allure. After the Ring's destruction its absence wore on Frodo, and he wore a substitution around his neck, a gemmed necklace given to him by Queen Arwen Undomíel.
At the end of the Third Age, Frodo crossed over the sea with Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel, Bilbo and others and left Middle-Earth.
