Biography:

"Three Rings for the Elven Kings under the Sky,
Seven for the Dwarf Lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on His Dark Throne,
in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie."

The Nazgūl are the black servants of the RingLord, Sauron.  Nine "mortal men", dark and terrible Kings, mighty and merciless warriors, powerful and evil sorcerers.  Men who in their lust for power, greed for wealth and fear of death, sought to cheat their "doom" through aligning themselves with Sauron at the height of his power during the Second Age.

Given nine Rings of Power by the Dark Lord in reward for their allegiance, these men were soon trapped by a fate far worse than a mere mortal death.  A fate which would result in the self-inflicted torturing of their flesh and souls for all eternity.  A fate which would make them servants of evil, "nine shadows under his great shadow."

The RingWraiths were forever bound to Sauron, and to the pursuit of The One Ring.  They were tall, menacing, and wore black robes to give shape to their nothingness.  They were deeply feared by all, and their own troops would slay themselves at the bidding of the Nazgūl lord, the sorcerer Witch-King of Angmar.
